Mertice Leona Jones Newman, age 85, of McCaysville, GA passed away Sunday, October 18, 2009 at Copper Basin Medical Center in Copperhill, Tennessee.
Mrs. Newman was born on November 26, 1923 in Fannin, GA, to the late Charles and late Mertice Jones. She was of the Baptist Faith. Leona was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and children.
She is surived by: son & daughter-in-law - Robert C. & Martha Newman Jr. of McCaysville ;daughter & son-in-law, Bettye & Larry Collis of McCaysville,; granddaughter, Kimberley Wildener; grandsons, Ronald Lee Collis, and Brian H. Collis; great grandchildren, Carter Wildener, Christian Widener, Khole Widener, Evelyn Ann Collis, and William Burton Collis; one brother, Harold G. Jones of Copperhill, and one sister Helen Ruth Daves of Copperhill
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at 11:00 AM from the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Matthew McDaniel, and Reverend Barry Sarver officiataing. Music will be provided by Jerrie Sue Massengale and Inez Jones. Serving as pallbearers will be Ronnie Collis, Brian Collis, Craig Wildener, Eddie Daves, Jerry Daves, Shannon Daves. Honorary pallbearers are Carter Wildener, Christian Wildener and Johnny Stiles. Burial will follow in the Crestlawn Cemetery.
The family will recive friends at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home Tuesday from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
