Max Ray

April 28, 1929 — September 16, 2012

Mr. Max Ray, age 83 of Mineral Bluff, passed away quietly at his home with family and friends by his side. He was born April 20, 1929 to the late Henry Ray and the late Leona Arwood Ray. He was a pillar of his community. He was always there to lend a hand when needed. As a younger man, Max moved to Michigan and worked as a welder for the automotive industry until he retired in 1976 and returned to Mineral Bluff. Max's personality never allowed him to be in a hurry but never sit down either. He was slow but sure no matter if he was in the hay field or the garden. Max's work ethic was one of the strongest around and he was a man of his word.

Max was preceded in death by his older brothers; Paul & Jack Ray both of Mineral Bluff, his older sisters, Marie Ray Williams of Mineral Bluff and Alice Dilbeck of Marietta, daughters, Mary of Knoxville, TN, and Ellen of Redford, MI. He is survived by son, Max Ray, Jr. of Crawfordville, GA. and his youngest daughter Brenda Ray of Milford, MI., eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.

Funeral services will be held at Mineral Bluff Baptist Church on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 11:00 am with the Rev. Phillip Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Chastain Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Seidel, William Ray Seidel, Richard Seidel, Preston Seidel, Robert Dilbeck, and Rickie Cloer.
