Max "Peanut" Pittman was born on June 28, 1929, to the late Nina Forrester Pittman and William Thomas Pittman. Max was a Veteran of the United States Army and later retired from Tennessee Chemical Company as an electrician. Max is survived by his loving wife of seventy years, Geree Seabolt Pittman; son Gerald Pittman, daughter, Sheila (Dale) Eavenson, and beloved granddaughter, April (Justin) Nicholson all of Epworth, and sister, Doris Holloway of Blue Ridge. Max is preceded in death by brothers and sisters-in-law, W.T. and Nelle Pittman; Wallace and Othella Pittman; sister and brother-in-law Charlotte and Toony Brown, and brother-in-law, Hoyt Holloway. Several nieces, nephews, and special friends also survive.
Max loved to spend time outdoors. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing, and his hobbies of lawncare and gardening lasted throughout his life. Max was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and Epworth First Baptist Church. The family will receive those wishing to pay their respects on Friday, September 8, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Epworth First Baptist Church; Funeral services will be immediately following. Internment will be at the Epworth First Baptist Church Cemetery. Dr. Tom Jordan and the Rev. Chris Clark will be officiating. Music provided by Doug Simonds and Vernon Owenby. Terry Brown, Anthony Holloway, Jeffery Holloway, Tracey Holloway, Mike Pittman, and B.J. Taylor will serve as pallbearers. Bea Hicks, Farley Stamey, Steve Green, and Members of the I.B.E.W will serve as honorary pallbearers.
