The Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces Memorial Services for Mr. Max F. Heinisch, age 84, of Hiawassee who passed away peacefully at his home.
Mr. Heinisch was born on May 13, 1933 to the late Felix & Hilde Heinisch in Kappitz, Germany. He was the eldest of four siblings and was forced to grow up very quickly in the dark early days of what became World War II. At just 12 years old, His family fled Germany- which began an incredible four year journey to safety and eventual immigration to America. As a teenager, Mr. Heinisch learned the trade of machine tool and die. This abruptly ended as he was drafted into U.S. Military Service. His intellect and ability was recognized early on, Mr. Heinisch was placed in the United States Air Force, where he became an aircraft mechanic. This skill set would serve him well, later in life, when he began a lengthy career with Eastern Airlines as an aircraft mechanic and test pilot. During his military service, he earned his U.S. Citizenship. Known well for his patriotism, Max was always grateful and appreciative of the opportunities that America offered.
A good husband, father, and provider- Max always strived to make his family his top priority. Family trips across the various parts of the U.S. became one grand adventure. Memories that his wife and children would cherish forever. Max was a faithful member of McConnell Memorial. His servants heart and God gifted abilities contributed to the remodeling effort and other ministries of the church.
He will be remembered by all, but especially missed by his family: his loving wife of 61 years, Sue Heinisch; his sons, Steve, Randy, and Greg Heinisch; and sisters, Sybille Ludwig and Kitty Fyfe. 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends also share in his legacy. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Manfred Heinisch.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at McConnell Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Steven Taylor and Rev. Danny Byers officiating. Special Music will be presented by Wayne Hundley. Interment will follow at Osborn Cemetery with Military Honors presented by the North Georgia Honor Guard.
