Spc/Specialist Maurice Piercy, 380th Engineer Support Company out of Greenville, Tennessee, age 26, of Andrews, North Carolina, passed away on March 6, 2025 in Andrews, North Carolina. Maurice was born on April, 28, 1998 in Slyva, North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents and a brother, Michael Shane Hogsed.
Maurice is survived by his parents, Charles Edwin and Laura Bess Hogsed; biological parents, Danny and Jessica; sisters, Carly Beth Piercy and Lacey (Danny) Luther; brother, Russell Moss; grandfather, Mike Piercy, grandmother; Ruth Garland and Regina; special aunts, Debbie Garland and Martha Pullium; nephew, Collin Hogsed and niece, Jazmine Killan.
He was an avid gun enthuist. He was dedicated to his service in the military in the United States Active Army Reserves. Maurice found pleasure and solace being out in God's created nature, whether hunting, fishing or just being in the great outdoors. He often enjoyed cruising on his motorcycle on the open road. He was a serious student of the Bible which he faithfully read and studied daily. His canine companion was a special friend of his.
Funeral services are scheduled to be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. from the Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy, North Carolina with Pastor Hoyt Brown officiating and music provided by Jimmy Wilson. Interment will follow the funeral service in the Valley River Baptist Church Cemetery in Andrews, North Carolina. Final military honors will be rendered by the U.S. Army Active Honor Guard. The following gentlemen will be serving as pallbearers: SSG Morris R. Blackwell II, SGT Richard V. Wagner, OC Matthew Riley II, SSG Levi Hampton, Dakota Gibby and John Pack.
The family will receive family and friends in a time of visitation on Thursday, March 13, 2025 from 12:00 Noon until the 2:00 P.M. service hour at the Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home 4334 64 East Alternate, Murphy, North Carolina 28906
