Maryalice Jonczyk, age 81, of Hiawassee, GA, passed away on December 31, 2024. She was born in Troy, NY to the late Edward and Jane Birmingham. She was a lovely person who exuded warmth and kindness, always greeting everyone she met with a friendly smile. Maryalice carried within her a passion for the beautiful mountains God created, finding peace and inspiration in their majesty.
She lived her life with unwavering dedication and was a detailed person in all matters, showcasing a remarkable level of thoughtfulness and care in everything she did. Strong in her generosity, Maryalice touched the lives of many through her selfless acts of kindness, making her a beloved matriarch in her family.
Maryalice maintained a steadfast faith in God, rooted deeply in her Catholic beliefs, which guided her through life's challenges and joys alike. Alongside her cherished husband, she took great pride in the family they built together. She raised two fine sons, whose accomplishments were a testament to her nurturing spirit and guiding hand. In welcoming her two daughters-in-law, she embraced them as though they were her own daughters, further enriching the familial bonds she so treasured.
In addition to her love for her family, Maryalice had a deep-seated passion for horses. They brought her joy and a sense of connection to nature that she so deeply appreciated.
She is survived by her loving husband Lothar Jonczyk; two sons Kris (Cammie) Jonczyk and Michael (Sonia) Jonczyk; brother Greg (Gail) Birmingham; sister-in-law's Claudia Bunger, Charlene Birmingham, and Sophia Birmingham; grandchildren Ashley (Tipton) Conquest, Alexander (Kayla) Jonczyk, and Gabriella Jonczyk; great-great grandchild Ava Conquest; she is also survived by many dear friends locally and throught-out the world.
She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Jane Birmingham, and brothers Patrick Birmingham and Charles Birmingham.
A Mass will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Hayesville, NC on January 24th, 2025, at 12:00p.m with Father Alex officiating.

Maryalice Jonczyk leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and kindness. She will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
