Mary Ruth Gibson

Mary Ruth Gibson, age 87 of Young Harris, passed away May 30, 2021 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Ga.; Mrs. Gibson was born December 20, 1933 in Young Harris, GA to the late Phelix Stockton and the late Stella Rogers; A member of Old Union Baptist Church, she was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ensley Gibson, Jr.; brother, Monroe Stockton, sister, Lorita Phillips, sister, Anita Ledford.

Survivors include: daughter, Darlene (Roger) Barrett; daughter, Diane (Daniel) Berrong; son, Butch Gibson (Vickie); and sisters, Roberta Baker, Dorothy Underwood and Wynona Nelson. Also, sharing in her legacy are 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday June 2, 2021 from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee with Rev. Ricky Rogers officiating. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home from 11:00 am until the service begins.

Gentlemen selected to serve as pallbearers are: Mark Barrett, Chad Barrett, Wayne Canterbury, John Landress, Michael West, and Andrew Glass. Clinton Hall to serve as honorary pallbearer.
