Mozelle Montgomery

Mozelle Presswood Montgomery, 92, of McCaysville, Georgia, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2023, at her home in McCaysville, GA surrounded by her loved ones.  

She was born October 23, 1930, in Ducktown, TN to the late B.F. (Banjo) and Daisy Loudermilk Presswood. 

Mozelle was a long time member of First Baptist Church McCaysville where she enjoyed being a part of her Sunday School class, WMU and participating in a variety of church activities.

Mozelle, who was lovingly referred to as "Meme" by many, was known for her sense of humor, contagious laughter and famous biscuits, cornbread, chocolate pie and banana pudding.  She loved hiking, camping, canoeing and any opportunity to entertain a crowd.  She always said there wasn't a baby or dog that didn't like her.

Mozelle was preceded in death by her husband Raymond "Coach" Montgomery, brother Benny Presswood and granddaughter Carol Montgomery.

She is survived by her children Brent (Patti) Montgomery; Kent (Glenda) Montgomery;  Marti (David) Bryson; and Gary (Anita) Deal; grandchildren Melanie Chapman, Dusty Montgomery; Amber (Chan) Mitchell; Ashlee (Alan) Pickelsimer; Lindsey (Brett) Bullock;  Shane Montgomery; Eric Deal; Drew Deal; and Gracie Deal.  Fourteen great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by beloved in-laws Betty Payne, Janet Moorehead, Jackie "Noodles" and Charlene Montgomery and Johnny and Kay Montgomery; many nieces and nephews, and loving caregivers Alice Griggs, Betty Jo Corn and Louise Dilbeck

Funeral Service Monday, March 13, 2023, at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of McCaysville/Copperhill with Rev Matthew McDaniel and Dr. Chan Mitchell officiating. Music provided by Edward Vest, Alice Griggs and Emma Mitchell. The final prayer and congregational hymn will be led by Pastor Denise Caldwell.

The grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Dusty Montgomery, Shane Montgomery, Eric Deal, Drew Deal, Alan Picklesimer, Brett Bullock, Hunter Bryson, Bryson Mitchell, Cayson Mitchell and Cade Bigham.

Interment will follow in the Crestlawn Cemetery with special music by granddaughter; Emma Mitchell.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Morganton-Mountaintown Association dental and medical ministry.

The family will receive friends at the McCaysville First Baptist Church Monday, March 13, 2023, from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm.
