Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces the death and funeral services for Mrs. Mary Marcie Hughes, age 91, of Blairsville, who passed away on Monday, March 16th, 2020 in Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville.
Marcie was a native of Alabama, but had lived in Blairsville since 1953. She was a familiar face at Union General Hospital and Union County Nursing Home, where she worked for many years, and always had a smile for everyone. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. Marcie had been preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Hughes; a son, Roger Dale Hughes; another son, William Ray Hughes; daughter, Gwen Hughes; Brothers Leburn Miles and Edward Miles; and her parents, Thomas Alexander Miles and Bessie Lee Ann Holcomb Miles.
Family members include a son, Robert Jay Hughes; grandson, Robbie Dockery; grandson, Craig Hughes; granddaughter, Bridgett Hughes; granddaughter, Kelly Hughes; and granddaughter Melinda Hughes; great grandchildren Christina Hughes and Caiden Hughes.
Funeral services for Marcie have been scheduled for Friday, March 20th, 2020, at 2:00 p.m., to be held in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home in Blairsville. The following gentlemen are requested to serve as pallbearers: Craig Hughes, Chuck Gillespie, Eddy Terry, Kevin Terry, Danny Hemphill, and David Hemphill. Burial will be in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will meet with friends for one hour before the funeral services, starting at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
