Mary Lou Kiernan

Mary Lou Kiernan, 91, of Blairsville, GA, passed away on January 27, 2025. She was born in Long Island, New York to the late Earl and Mirian Prentis. 

A registered nurse, Mary Lou dedicated her career to serving the healthcare needs of many individuals alongside various healthcare providers, always ensuring that those in her care received not just medical attention but also the tender loving care that only she could provide. She also took pride in her role as an volunteer ambulance attendant, working alongside her husband as the driver, showcasing her commitment to community service and the well-being of others.

Mary attended St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, where she found joy and fellowship. Known for her generous spirit, she was a great hostess, often inviting friends and family into her home for delicious meals.

Among her proudest accomplishments, Mary Lou played a significant role alongside her husband in developing Lakeside Village in Blairsville, Georgia. 

She is survived by her children Patrick (Trina) Kiernan, Kelly (Gordon) Branch, and Michael (Noelle) Kiernan; grandchildren Mia (Ryan) Logan, Sean Kiernan, Danny (Fiancee Peyton) Kiernan, Courtney (Sergio) Mendoza, Hollie ( Fiance Ricky) Burell, Abe (Ashley) Kiernan, Alex (Malcholm) Graham, Knox Kiernan, and Annalyse Kiernan; great-grandchildren Kiernan Logan, Amelia Logan, Jonathan Mendoza, Talen Burell, Addie Mendoza, Santiago Buenrostro, Kerrigan Mendoza, and Eloise Kiernan.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years John Kiernan; parents Earl and Mirian Prentis; and her grandson Jonathan Burell.

A memorial service will be held on February 8, 2025, at Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home of Blairsville, GA, at 1:00 pm. 

Mary Lou Kiernan will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of service, hospitality, and love will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched throughout her remarkable life.
