Mary Helen Taylor, age 90, of Morganton, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2017, at Union General Hospital. Mrs. Taylor was born May 29, 1927, in Morganton, GA to the late Bart Smith and the late Mamie Garren Smith. Helen was a member of one of the pioneer families that came to Fannin County in the 1700's, a member of Mineral Bluff Baptist Church, and one of the first employees at Fannin Regional Hospital cafeteria where she worked 15 years till her retirement. Mrs. Taylor enjoyed fishing, reading, and crossword puzzles. She was preceded in death by father, Bart Smith, mother, Mamie Smith, husband, Elza Sherman Taylor, Brother, Glenn Smith, Brother, Cecil Smith, sister-in-law, Virginia Smith.
Survivors include: sons, Jim Taylor, Bart (Barbara) Taylor, Chuck (Robin) Taylor, grandchildren, Emily (Adam) Kuruc, Jamie Wheeldon, Cree Taylor, Cammy Taylor, Misty Kelischek, James Wesley Taylor, Jr., two great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews also survive.
Funeral services: Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at 2:00 pm at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Hughes officiating. Music provided by Robert Buchanan. Interment will follow in Morganton Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers: Joel Walker, Bruce Collins, Danny Kirby, James Millholland, Danny Foster, and Jerry Bowers.
