Mary Evelyn Stewart, age 95 of McCaysville, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Fannin Regional Hospital. Mrs. Stewart was born October 3, 1922 in McCaysville, GA to the late Carl Edward German and the late Edgel Denny German. A longtime member of the First Baptist Church of McCaysville, she was preceded in death by her husband, E.P. (Slim) Stewart, brother, Grover Galloway, sister, Jean Weathers and brothers, Cecil, Wendell, Carl Jr. and Robert German. Mary enjoyed being with her family, her family was her life and also listening to music.

Survivors include son, Robert (Kathy) Stewart, son, Larry Stewart, two sisters, Peggy (James) Mitchell and Patsy Snow, two grandchildren, Lori (Gary) Nicholson and Ginger Stewart, three great-granchildren, Lindsey Cole, Nikki (Sgt. Chris) Campbell and Tripp Loudermilk.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 22, 2018 at 3:00 pm at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Matthew McDaniel and Rev. James Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in Crestlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Larry Newberry, Greg Panter, Paul Mitchell, Lynn Rowe, Tripp Stewart Loudermilk, Stephen Snow and Gary Nicholson. Honorary pallbearers are the Deacons of the First Baptist Church of McCaysville and employees of Pruitt Healthcare.

The family will receive friends at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home on Sunday, April 22, 2018 from 1-3 pm before the service.
