Mary Elizabeth Hensley

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Hensley, age 84, of Blairsville, GA, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 24, 2018.
A life long resident of Union County, Mrs. Hensley was born on February 24, 1934 to the late Edward & Nancy Harkins Payne. She loved her family and community, as well as, Fishing every chance she got. She also loved a good game of cards with family and friends. Mary goes on to be with her parents, Ed & Nancy Payne; Husband, Marcus Hensley; Daughter, Brenda Sue Gay; Sisters, Mattie Plott ( Tom), Bessie Gilreath ( Russell), Bertha Garner, Nora Evans, Martha Ross Hawkins (Jack) and Bonnie Payne; Brothers, Hobert Payne, Willie "Bill" Payne (Margaret) and J.P. Payne. She will be remembered by all who new her, but especially missed by her Grandson, Roy Johnson; Great-Grandsons, Johnathan Johnson and Michael Henderson; Sister, Grapell Rich; Son-in-law, Tom Gay; Sisters-in-law, Evelyn Payne and Martha Fortenberry and Brother-in-law, Joe Evans. Also sharing in her legacy and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at 2:00pm from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home & Crematory of Blairsville, with Rev. Ray Potts officiating. Special music will be presented by Megan Kerr and The Potts Brothers.Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers; Chris Anderson, James Bridges, Robbie Evans, Paul Garner, Mike Harkins and Eddie Rich.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to defray funeral expenses; make checks payable to Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory, P.O. The family will receive friends from 12:00noon until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
