Mary Evaline Burkart

Mary Evaline Rich Burkart, 78, of Marietta, GA, passed away on August 24, 2024. She was born on December 23, 1945, in TN to the late Garnett and Geno Rich.

While in high school, she proudly placed in a shorthand competition for the state of Georgia and utilized that skill routinely in both her personal and professional endeavors. Throughout her years, Mary exemplified the virtues of a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother nurturing her family with an unwavering devotion that was felt by all. Mary found immense joy in traveling, exploring the vast landscapes of the United States as well as the enchanting lands of Europe, Mexico, Canada, and Australia. Mary's creativity shone brightly through her mastery of crewel embroidery. With practiced hands, she stitched with love and intention, ensuring that her creations would be cherished by generations to come.

She is preceded in death by her parents Garnett and Geno Rich and brother Otis Eugene Rich.

She is survived by her loving husband Frank Burkart; children Trisha (John) Harris and Julie (David) Burns; sisters Exola Gates, Leola Lyons, and Sue Caudill; grandchildren John Harris III, Christopher (Torie) Harris, Rachel Harris, Zachary (Bryanna) Harris, and Faith Burns; great-grandchildren Elsie Harris and Hunter Harris; other relatives also survive.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 11:00 am at Cochran' McDaniel Funeral Home Blairsville Chapel.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Cochran' McDaniel Funeral Home Blairsville Chapel from 10:00 am -11:00 am.

Interment will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, Blairsville.
