Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mrs. Mary Belle McGlamery Bowling, age 93, of Nokomis, Florida, formerly of Blairsville, Georgia, who passed away Monday, June 25, 2012 in Florida.
Mrs. Bowling was born in Blairsville on January 13, 1919, the daughter of the Thomas Jasper McGlamery and Dovie Lee Kelley McGlamery. She graduated Union County High School and married Oscar Wayne Bowling, also of Blairsville, on March 21, 1937. They moved to Ypsilanti, Michigan, where Mary worked for Chrysler and Wayne worked for Ford Motor Company. They had two children. They retired to Nokomis, Florida 1977 and lived the rest of their lives there.
She will be fondly remembered by all who knew her, but will especially missed by her family members: daughter and son-in-law, Mary E. "Betsy" McCoy, and Samuel McCoy; son and daughter-in-law, Gerald Wayne Bowling and Pamela S. Bowling; grandchildren and their spouses: Johanna L. McCoy; Marlo E. McCoy Bearman and Paul Bearman; Amy K. Bowling Batley and J. Blake Batley; Andrew C. Bowling and Heather A. Bowling; great grandchildren: Emily E. Bearman, and Charles S. Bearman; Clayton W. Batley, Reese E. Batley, Sloane I. Batley; and Abby B. Bowling, Kate B. Bowling, and Rachel D. Bowling.
Graveside services for Mrs. Bowling will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2012, at 12 noon, at Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery, with Pastor Jerry Helton officiating. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Blake Batley, Clayton Batley, Andrew Bowling, Paul Bearman, Charles Bearman, and Frank Denny.
Visitation at the funeral home will be held on Thursday, the same day of the service, between the hours of 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
