Mary Ann Dumas Kennedy, age 86 of Blue Ridge, Georgia, passed away April 20, 2014 at her residence. Mrs. Kennedy was born January 13, 1928, in Paris, Tennessee to the late George E. Dumas and Rebekah Caldwell Dumas. She was a member at St. Luke's Episcopal Church and was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Clarence Leland Kennedy, son Michael Leland Kennedy and brother, Robert Edward Dumas.
Mary Ann lived in Blue Ridge full time since 1998 and part time since 1980 while also living in Ormond Beach, Florida. The wife of a United States Navy pilot, she lived and traveled all over the world with her husband and children. As an avid bridge player, she enjoyed playing several times a week, as well as, teaching others to play. Although Mrs. Kennedy spent most of her life being a Navy wife, housewife and mother, she also taught swimming as a Red Cross lifeguard and sold real estate in Florida. She enjoyed entertaining, laughing with new and old friends and traveling.
Survivors include daughter, Ann Smiley Kennedy, of Blue Ridge, granddaughter, Heather Kennedy Mackersie and great granddaughters, Annabelle Lily Mackersie and Cameron Kennedy Mackersie, all of Ormond Beach, Florida.
Memorial Services: Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 2:00 pm at St. Luke's Episcopal Church with the Reverend Victor Morgan Officiating. Music provided by Eileen Kerr and John Charping. Internment will follow in the St. Luke's Memorial Garden. Honorary pallbearers: Ansel Maund, Danny Mashburn, David Roberson, Mark Roberson, Daniel Parrish, Sidney Goss, Bruce Griffith, Peter Cohen, Neal Schoonejongen, Rob Mishler and Gary Herring.
The family will receive friends at the memorial service and at the reception immediately following in the Church's Thomason Hall at 3:30.
