Martha Sims, 90, of Blairsville, Georgia, met her Heavenly Savior on January 9, 2025 after a period of declining health. She was born in Trion, Georgia.
She was predeceased by her parents, HV and Stella Gentry Craig, husband, Glen Aaron, a son, Donald Glen Aaron and brothers, Edgar Craig, JD Craig and Herman Craig, sisters, Bonnie Mae Lowrance, Sarah Hilburn, Corine Hurley, and her beloved dog, Tiger.
She is survived by her loved ones, husband of 47 years, Robert Sims, a sister, Louise Brown of Lafayette, Georgia, children, Daniel Elton Aaron, Dena (Ronnie) Westbrooks, Debra (Mitchell) Sanders and Donald Sims.
Grandchildren Aaron Russell, Gentry (Stovall) Hunt, Katie (Steven) Cannon, Cecil (Anne) Sanders, Corey Aaron, Ashley (Zach) Sullens, Dixie (Chris) Conger, Dawson (Nicole) Aaron, Darla Aaron and Dusty Aaron. Sixteen great grandchildren, special daughter-in-law Tammy Aaron, and a host of friends, nieces and nephews.
Martha and Robert shared many memories traveling in their RV throughout Georgia, the Carolinas, Florida, and even as far away as Alaska.
Martha was a charter member of the Union County Hospital Auxiliary for 44 years and was proud of being a “pink lady” and attended every picnic, Christmas party and function that her health would allow. Her awards were displayed prominently on the wall and were protected and cherished.
Born with a servant’s heart, Martha baked pies for “the sick people” and sent hundreds of sympathy and get well soon cards over the years. Even in her later years, blind and homebound, she worried about “the little children and old people,” and tried to find ways to help others.
Services will be held at Cochran McDaniel Funeral Home in Blairsville, Georgia, on January 16, 2025. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by the service at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Mountain Shelter Humane Society at 129 Bowling Gap Circle, Blairsville, Ga. 30512 or Union County Hospital Auxilliary Scholarship fund: Union County Hospital attn: Auxilliary 35 Hospital Road, Blairsville, Ga. 30512.
