Martha Geraldine Moyer

Mrs. Martha Geraldine Moyer, 95, of Mineral Bluff, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Blue Ridge Assisted Living in Blue Ridge, GA. Martha was born January 17, 1929, in Attica, Indiana to Earl and Martha Kerr.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Donald Moyer; father, Earl Kerr; mother, Martha Kerr; several brothers and sisters; granddaughter, Jessica Large.

She is survived by her son Gary Moyer; daughter Carole Obrien; daughter Donna Clowers; daughter Jacqueline Thomas; grandchildren David Kirby, Dawn Carroll, Steve Large; great grandchildren; Tristan Williams, Alexander Carroll, Savannah Large; great great grandchild Marianna Kirby; brother Jack Kerr; sister Deannie Sanford.

Martha was a devoted wife, mother, and friend. She married Donald Wayne Moyer in 1952 in Anchorage, Alaska. They met at the Salvation Army in Lafayette, Indiana where she played the french horn in the Salvation Army band. He became an air traffic controller for the FAA. After two years in Alaska he transferred to Panama, Canal Zone where they lived until he retired and moved to Melbourne, Florida.

Martha loved to sew, especially beautiful dresses for her daughters. In later years she freely used her sewing skills for friends that needed alterations. Her last sewing projects were face masks during Covid for the staff while she was in assisted living. Her favorite pastimes included bingo and attending monthly luncheons at several local churches in Cumming, Georgia.

There will be a private family service in Cleveland, Tennessee at the Salvation Army Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Cleveland, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to the Salvation Army at P.O. Box 5325, Cleveland, TN 37320.
