Manon Salser Thompson, 93, of Blairsville, GA, passed away on January 14th, 2025. She was born on February 19th, 1931, in Racine, OH, to the late Grover and Emma Salser.
Manon was a woman of many interests and talents. Her green thumb blossomed in her cherished garden, where she cultivated not only vibrant flowers but also friendships with her dear Church ladies, whom she loved to spend time with.
Her deep love for animals was matched only by her commitment to community service. She was heavily involved in the Georgia Horticultural Society alongside her beloved husband, Jim. Manon also participated in the Women's Circle and Odyssey club at First United Methodist Church of Blairsville, where she contributed with her heart and soul.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Jim Thompson; parents Grover and Emma Salser; and her four siblings; Charles (Took) Salser, Lowell Salser, Grover Salser Jr., and Carol Birch.
She is survived by her children Kay Wright, Richard (Kim) Thompson, and James "Marty" Martin (Mary) Thompson; siblings Rosemary (Clyde) Evans, Ronnie (Cookie) Salser, and Carmen (Sam) Price; sister-in-law Betty Salser; grandchildren Brian (Adrianna) Wright, Adam (Louise) Thompson, Michelle (Austin) Hodges, Kevin (Eva) Thompson, and Travis Oates; ten great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at Cochran McDaniel Funeral Home on Sunday, January 19th, 2025, at 2:00 pm with Pastor Mack Riley officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Manon's honor to the Mountain Shelter Humane Society, 129 Bowling Gap Cir, Blairsville, GA 30512
Manon leaves behind a legacy of love, community, and dedication that will be fondly remembered by all who were lucky enough to know her. She touched many lives and will be dearly missed.
