Marie Pauline Scholes (Plemmons)

Marie Pauline Scholes, age 94 of Mc Caysville, passed away January 7, 2013 at the Life Care Center of Copper Basin. Mrs. Scholes was born January 22, 1918 in Fannin County, GA to the late Thomas M. Plemmons and the late Sarah Fain Plemmons. She loved attending McCaysville/Copperhill First Baptist Church where she grew up and was a member most of her life. Her fathers name was on the original cornerstone of the brick church that burnt several years ago and her late husband Alvin Scholes's name is on the cornerstone of the current McCaysville/Copperhill First Baptist Church. Marie never met a stranger as she enjoyed being around people, fellowship with friends and playing canasta. She was employed by Sneed's Jewelry in Copperhill for over thirty years and then retired from the Diamond Center in Blue Ridge.

She was preceded in death by parents, son, Barry Plemmons and her husband Alvin Scholes.

Survivors include: daughter , Sherry (Bob) Welch, son, Edson "Eddie" (Elva) Scholes, granddaughter, Kimberly Scholes, grandson, Jeffrey Welch, granddaughter, Tracy (John) Heller, grandson, Michael Scholes, grandson, Zachary (Sheila) Welch, granddaughter, Pamela Scholes, eight great grandchildren, brother in law, Bill Jarvis, sister in law, Gwen Plemmons, sister in law, Eula Plemmons. Pallbearers will include Bob Welch, Eddie Scholes, Michael Scholes, Jeffery Welch, Zachary Welch and Michael Scholes, Jr..

Funeral services: Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church McCaysville/Copperhill with the Rev. Matthew McDaniel officiating. Music provided by Rev. Harry Gilbert. Interment will follow in the Crestlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers: Bob Welch, Eddie Scholes, Michael Scholes, Jeffery Welch,and Zachary Welch.

The family will receive friends at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home of McCaysville, Saturday, January 12, 2013 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers you may make donations to the Fannin County Christian Learning Center.
