Mrs Margo Dora Ella Michienzi, of Ducktown, Tennessee, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, April 20, 2015, at Beverly Park Place in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Born in Copenhagen, Denmark on December 16, 1924, Margo was the daughter of the late Henry Nuerup and the late Auguste Kruse Nuerup Olemann. She was preceeded in death by her husband, Matthew Michienzi, son, Michael Michienzi, granddaughter, Varra Michienzi-Collins, brother, Ingolf Nuerup, father and mother-in-law, Peter and Jenny Michienzi, and brother-in-law, Peter Michienzi.
She is survived by son, Mark (Sherry) Michienzi, Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Angela (Jeff) Fugate, Hazard, KY; Matthew (Marilu) Michienzi, San Jose, CA; Michael Michienzi, Johnson City, TN; Dana Michienzi, Allison (Dustin) Patterson, Seth (Katie) Clowers, all of Knoxville, TN. Great-grandchildren are Aiden, Eleri, and Graecen Fugate, Josie and Matteo Michienzi, and Emma and Lane Patterson. Survivors also include sister-in-law, Janet Michienzi, nephew, Peter Michienzi, nieces, JoAnn Fink and Pamela Finn and families; sister-in-law, Marie (William) Muller, nephews, William and Kurt Muller, and niece, Kimberly Houser and families. Special extended family are Debra (Steve) Jones and Jamie Michienzi.
Margo was the proud wife of Naval Officer/ Marine Engineer, the late Matthew Joseph Michienzi, for 59 years. She loved to share stories of their life together, years gone by, of their travels, experiences and all the happy times raising their boys, Mark and Michael on their farm in upstate (Berne) New York. After living in several locations, Matt and Margo made the Copper Basin their permanent home in 1974. They were known and loved for their service in several local churches through the years but Mine City Baptist Church became their final church home.
Margo's was a life well lived. She was a devoted daughter, loving wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma and aunt. She was proud of her sons and had an abiding love for them. She was happiest when surrounded by her family and cherished the memories made together. She treasured all the friendships formed over the years and you were truly blessed to have had her as a friend. Above all, Margo Michienzi was a faithful Christian, her life was her testimony and her greatest devotion was to her Lord.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Crestlawn Cemetery with Reverend Keith Smith officiating. In lieu of flowers and memorials, please remember the family in prayer.
