Mamie Rogers

Mamie Lou Rogers, age 92 of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, June 13th, 2023.

Mamie was born in Union County, Georgia on February 13, 1931, one of three children in the household. Her family lived in the Owltown District where her father was a sawmiller. Her parents' names were Ed and Dovie Townsend.

Mamie's approach to life was to take care of her family. She worked in the family's business. The business environment was family. Adults and children always held her advice highly.

Mamie married Ray Rogers and they were married for 72 years until his death. Ray was sick the last few years and Mamie dedicated her life to taking care of him.

Mamie leaves behind two children; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Jerri Rogers; and daughter and son-in-law Kay and Milton Bradley; brother, Roy Townsend; grandchildren, Mark Rogers, Mandy (Tim) Bradley Hunter, Meg (Jason) Bradley McCarter; great-grandchildren Hailey Rogers, Ava Hunter, Lola Hunter, Ariel McCarter, and Ragan McCarter.

Visitation at the funeral home will be held Thursday, June 15, 2023, between the hours of 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

Funeral services were held on Friday, June 16, 2023, at 11 a.m., at First United Methodist Church of Union County, with Rev. Mack Riley and Rev. Jerry Helton officiating.  Special music was presented by Trish Cook, Tommy Townsend, and Roy Townsend.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Stanley Garrett, Dennis Garrett, Tommy Rogers, Mark Rogers, Tim Nichols, and Larry Turner.  Burial was in Union Memory Gardens Cemetery in Blairsville.
