Mrs. Mamie Moody Owens, age 68 of Hayesville, NC, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at Murphy Medical Center. Mrs. Owens was born Monday, February 19, 1940 in Jackson Co., NC to the late Tillmon and Lillian Robinson Moody. A member of Truett Memorial Baptist Church, she was employed by Four Square Community Services. Mrs. Owens loved growing flowers and was an avid fisher. She loved the special times she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include: husband, Luther Owens of Hayesville, NC, daughter & son-in-law, Carol (Norton) & Dwayne Kilpatrick of Lenor City, TN, daughter & son-in-law, Donna (Norton) & Jeff Plemmons of Marble, NC, step-son, Kelly & Vickie Owens of Warne, NC, brothers, Bob Moody of Filer, Idaho, Tillmon Moody of Glenville, NC, James & Althea Moody of Glenville, NC, sisters, Henrietta Bentley of Glenville, NC, Bobbie Davis of Waynesville, NC, Mary Coggins of Glenville, NC, Linda & Paul Ward of Whittier, NC, grandchildren, Jacob & Laura Plemmons of Murphy, NC, Ryan & Nicole Plemmons of Murphy, NC, Ashley & Gavin Killian of Spring Lake, NC, Casey Owens of Warne, NC, great grandchildren, Peyton, Tyler, Austin and Lillian Plemmons of all of Murphy, NC.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 3, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with the Dr. Chester Jones officiating. Music will be provided by Roger Moody. Interment will follow in Hamburg Baptist Church Cemetery. Immediate family members will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 until 7 p.m., Thursday, April 3.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to American Cancer Society or Meadow Grove Baptist Church in Hayesville, NC.
