Novella was born in Ellijay, Georgia to Harley and Laura (Key) Harris on December 22, 1927. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Clifford (A.C.) Foster; her parents; her brothers, Poley, Jerome, Edward, Seaborn, and Pat; and her sisters, Imogene Thomas and Othella Key.
She is survived by her son, Gary Foster (Judy) of Dacula, Georgia, and daughter, Phyllis Foster Pool (Richard Pool) of Jasper, Georgia; her brother, Kenneth Harris of Blue Ridge, her beloved sister-in-law, Linda Harris of Blue Ridge; grandchildren, Van (Angela) Foster, Travis (Hope) Foster, Mark (Tiffany) Pool, and Crystal (Bill) Cleland; her great-grandchildren; and her great great-grandson. Novella loved God and her family and was a member of the Glen Hope Baptist Church for more than 70 years where she served as church secretary and taught Sunday school. She loved cooking, sewing, and gardening and proudly boasted that her yard was the prettiest one in the neighborhood. She also loved reading and education; she received her GED at the age of 57. She began working at a very early age and eventually retired from Levi Strauss and worked at Mercier Orchards, a job she loved, for several years after retirement. Her sense of humor and sassiness will be missed by all who knew her, including her wonderful caregivers at Sonshine Manor.
