Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces the death and services of Mrs. Madalyn Gruesbeck, age 99, of Blairsville, who passed away on December 10th, 2020 in Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville.
Mrs. Gruesbeck was born in New York, a daughter of the late Hector Spencer Holmes and the late Marquerite Lillian Henderickson Holmes. Mrs. Gruesbeck had moved to Blairsville from Ocala, Florida. She had been preceded in death by her husband, Charles Gruesbeck, and her son, Charles H. Gruesbeck.
Mrs. Gruesbeck is survived by her loving family members: daughter and son-in-law, Gale and Jim Filler, of Blairsville; daughter, Nelda Thompson, of Newport Richey, Florida; sister, Juanita Sterling, West Daby, New York; sister-in-law, Fern Holmes, Endwell, New York; Seven grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren also survive.
A small memorial service was held Monday, December 14th, 2020 in the Buchanan Fellowship Hall inside the First Baptist Church of Blairsville. Dr. Fred Lodge read scripture and Mary Grissett and Margie Wood also helped conduct the service. Special songs were presented by Chris Patterson. Burial will be held on Friday, December 18th, 2020 at Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens in Ocala, Florida, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband.
