Mrs. Lyndel Christine Atkins, age 93 of Lilburn, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016 at the Pruitt Nursing Home of Lilburn. Mrs. Atkins was born May 23, 1923 in Atlanta, GA to the late Charlie Hudgens and the late Rebeye Hudgens. A member of the Bethel United Methodist Church, she was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, and her husband, Frank Atkins. Lyndel enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles in her spare time. She was very active in her community and her church becoming a member of the United Methodist Women's group and also Women's Aglow. She was also a Sunday School Teacher.
Survivors include three sons, Robert (Brenda) Atkins, Steve (Denise) Atkins, Bruce (Kim) Atkins, five grandchildren, Bryan (Mandy), Jason, Melissa, Leigh and Ben, and three great-grandchildren, Shelby, Kaitlyn and Sully.
Funeral services: Wednesday,June 8, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Taylor officiating. Music provided by Teresa Ross. Interment will follow in Hemptown Cemetery. Pallbearers: Bryan, Jason, Ben, Howell, Scott and Russell.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Bethel United Methodist Women.
The family will receive friends at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge, GA. on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 from 11 A.M. until 1:00 P.M.
