Luther Jackson McGuire, Jr.

Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces the death and funeral services for Mr. Luther Jackson "Mac" McGuire, Jr., age 70, of Blairsville, Georgia, who passed away on Tuesday, February 22nd, 2022 in Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Georgia.

Mac was born in San Antonio, Texas, a son of the late Luther Jackson McGuire, Sr., and Rosalinda Paiz McGuire. He was a combat veteran of the United States Marine Corps, and a retired nurse from Union General Hospital. He loved to play the guitar and sing at the church, and enjoyed working around the farm and going fishing with the grandchildren. Mac was a member of Choestoe Baptist Church. A brother, Mickey McGuire, preceded him in death.

Surviving family members include his wife, Karen Mosley McGuire, of Blairsville; children and their spouses: Heather Suzanne (Todd) Buchanan; Shaun Patrick McGuire; Lindsay Ann (Brian) Gowan; and Matthew Thomas (Stephanie) Johnson; sister and brother-in-law, Dottie and Wayne Little; brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Mandy McGuire; brother and sister-in-law, Perry and Lauren McGuire; and brother, Ricky McGuire. Six grandchildren: Patrick McGuire, Wyatt McGuire, Ashton Gowan, Gracie Gowan, Colette Johnson, and Thomas Johnson. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services have been scheduled for Saturday, February 26th, 2022, to be held at 2:00 p.m., at Choestoe Baptist Church, with Pastor John Thompson and Rev. Ken Zollinger officiating with remembrances by Phil Stevens. Special music will be presented by Martha Collins, Julie Thompson, and The Choestoe Boys. The following gentlemen are requested to serve as pallbearers: Reed McGuire, Jonathan McGuire, Brian Little, Evan Albright, Jonathon Brown, Zach McBrayer, and Steve Beatty. Interment will be in the Choestoe Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Choestoe Baptist Church on Saturday, starting at 12 noon, and last until the funeral services begin.
