Lucille Kimsey Hedden

October 21, 1924 — July 19, 2014

Lucille Kimsey Hedden, age 89 of Hiawassee, passed away Saturday July 19, 2014 at Chatuge Regional Nursing Home. Mrs. Hedden was born October 21, 1924 in Towns County, GA to the late L.E. Kimsey Sr. and the late Bertha Lowe Kimsey. She was a lifelong resident of Towns County and was a faithful member of the Lower Bell Creek Baptist Church.

Mrs. Hedden, better known by friends and family as "Tassie", was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Tassie worked for 30 years as a child care provider for Towns County Child Development. She worked mainly with infants and toddlers and loved and cared for them as if they were her own grandchildren. The last 10 years of her life, Tassie was a resident of Chatuge Regional Nursing Home where the staff lovingly cared for her.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Mary Hedden of Hiawassee, Brothers, L.E. Kimsey Jr., and Bruce Kimsey, both of Hiawassee, grandchildren, Sherry Rogers of Hayesville, NC and Barry Hedden of Hiawassee and great grandchildren, Noah Rogers, Riley Rogers, Braydon Hedden and Breanna Hedden. Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services are scheduled for Monday July 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of the Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee with the Rev. Israel Rogers and the Rev. Mark Shook officiating. Music will be provided by Israel and Susie Rogers and by Jane Henson. Interment will follow in the Lower Bell Creek Cemetery. The following gentlemen have been requested to serve as pallbearers: Jeffrey Kimsey, Noah Rogers, Benny Kimsey, Donald Kimsey, Derrick Cunningham and Mark Shook. Truett Shook will serve as honorary pallbearer.

The family will receive friends at the Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee Sunday evening from 5 until 8:30 p.m.
