Lucille Craig, age 84, of Morganton, Ga., passed away Sunday, June 3, 2007 at the Fannin Regional Hospital. Lucille was born Saturday, April 14, 1923 in Fannin to the late Crawford Walden Beaver and the late Bessie Laura Ammons Beaver. She was a member of Appalachia Baptist Church, was very active in her church, taught children's sunday school for twenty-six years, active in WMU, a member of the retired Ga. teachers assn.and was one of the first paraprofessionals in Georgia. She had taught from 1965 till her forced retirment in 1990. She was active with the heart walk.
She was preceded in death by husband, W.G. "Sonny" Craig in 1964, brothers, Kenneth Beaver, James Beaver, Marvin Beaver, sister Geraldine Pope.
Survivors include: son & daughter-in-law, William G."Bill" & Lowayne Craig of Dahlonega, son & daughter-in-law, Robert W. & Janice Craig of Morganton, daughter & son-in-law, Laura & Steve Christopher of Epworth, brother, Charles Beaver of McCaysville, brother & sister- in- law, Larry & Brenda Beaver of Morganton, sister, Edith Thomas of Blairsville, sister, Dot Carey of Smyrna, sister, Helen Allen of Tucker, grandson & wife, Gene & Kathryn Nix, grandson, Billy Craig, grandson & wife, Brian & Maria Nix, grandson, Eric Craig, grandson, Mark Craig, nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at 11:00AM from the Appalachia Baptist Church with the Minister Butch Jones and Dr. Gary Parris officiating. Music will be provided by Alesia Wells. Interment will follow in Morganton Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are: Gene Nix, Billy Craig, Brian Nix, Eric Craig, Mark Craig, Winston Beaver and Steve Christopher.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9, Monday, June 4.
