Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces the death and services for Lounell Shook Barrett, age 87, who went to her heavenly home after a period of declining health February 28th, 2022. A longtime nurse at Chatuge Hospital and later the owner of the Enotah, Barrett House, and Georgia Mountain restaurants in Hiawassee, her passion was caring for others, whether it was delivering free meals to the sick, needy, and emergency workers, donating foods to help raise funds for various causes throughout the years, or helping her neighbors in any way possible. When not serving others, she always relished the card game Setback.
Born on Hog Creek in Hiawassee, GA, October 20th, 1934, Lounell was a lifelong resident with a part-time home in Tavares, Fl for several years.
Lounell was preceded in death by her infant sister Juanita; parents Howard and Ella (Garrett) Shook; first husband Everett Barrett; brothers Jack, Harold, and James Shook; daughters Pamela Barrett Caldwell and Melanie Barrett Hedden; and husband William Mull.
Surviving are one sister, Wanda Shook Sprowls; three brothers, Bobby, Douglas, and Curtis Shook; three sons, Darrell (Linda), Daniel (Donna) and Anthony Barrett; two stepdaughters, Patty Mull Burns and Suzanne Mull; 15 grandchildren, and dozens of great grandchildren.
Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee is in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm with a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 5th, 2022. In lieu of flowers, donations to Union Hill UMC Church Burch Cemetery Fund or Gideons International are greatly appreciated. Special thanks to Chatuge Regional Hospital and Nursing Home for their expert and loving care during her extended illness.
