Louise Murray Blaisdell, age 83, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at her home.
Mrs. Blaisdell was born in Atlanta on March 24, 1930 to the late Charles Francis & Eulalia (Williams) Murray. An accomplished violinist, Louise played with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra at the age of 15 and continued with them for a number of years. She met the love of her life, "Cliff" at Georgia Tech. and the two would frequently go on dates to the Varsity in Atlanta or venture up to the mountains at Vogel State Park. Together, they raised 5 children that will always cherish memories of family trips in the station wagon, camping and numerous other outdoor activities. You always knew that if you needed anything, you could go to her and be taken care of. Her home became a haven for kids and she became the "neighborhood mom" . Young at heart and full of fun, Louise hid under the dining room table during lively games of hide & seek and helped to construct LEGO masterpieces with her grandchildren. Her genuine concern for people and focus on customer service made her a successful insurance sales representative later on in life. She loved music and would often be found singing the melody of a familiar tune with her own little twist of humor to it. She had a strong faith in the Lord and was very active in her church. Believing with all her heart in the power of prayer, she would pray constantly for family and friends. On Sunday mornings she could be seen walking to church with a smile on her face and a bible in hand.
She will be warmly remembered by all who knew her, but especially missed by her family: son, Keith M Blaisdell; daughter & son-in-law, Susan & Michael Sexton; son, Bruce Blaisdell, daughter, Lynn Blaisdell Lentz and sister & brother-in-law, Mildred & Roy Smith. 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren also share in her legacy along with several nieces and nephews. Louise was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Clifford C. Blaisdell, Jr.; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Blaisdell; grandson, Christopher Andrew Sexton; her parents and 5 siblings.
Memorial services were held at 1:00 p.m.on Monday, December 2, 2013 from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with Rev. Jan Devereaux officiating. Mrs. Martha Davenport served as the pianist.
