Louise Cooper Berkstresser

The Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces Funeral Services for Mrs. Louise Cooper Berkstresser, age 88, of Hiawassee who passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2016.

Louise was born in Gadsden, Alabama on May 19, 1928 to the late Louie & Frances (Hardy) Cooper. She has lived in the Hiawassee area for 41 years and was a faithful member of McConnell Memorial Baptist Church. There she was involved in numerous church activities and ministries including the choir, WMU, and the Civics Concern Committee.

She will be fondly remembered by all who knew her, but especially missed by her family: sons, Sidney E. Berkstresser III and Bruce K. Berkstresser; daughter, Anita B. Hedden; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney E. Berkstresser, Jr. in 2010.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at McConnell Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Byers officiating. Special music will be presented by Michael Hedden, Jr. and Rob Chassner. Pallbearers will include: Adam Berkstresser, Christopher Hedden, Clayton Hedden, and Josh Hedden. Honorary pallbearers are Milton Hatchell, James Rice, Ralph Turner, Vince Whittington, and Howard Starrett. Interment will be held at Osborn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Church on Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until the service begins.
