Mary Lorrane Anderson
1923 - 2017
Mary Lorrane (Bowman) Anderson, 94, passed away on September 8, 2017 in Hiawassee, Ga. She was born on May 20, 1923 in Alexandria, Virginia to Mary Lee Bowman and William Carlton Bowman. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 30 years James Wesley Anderson, and survived by her four children Karol Lee Marshall and her children, Katherine Tiffany Marshall, Anne Randolph Marshall and her husband Stuart Seelye Marshall, and their sons Spencer and Theodore; Sharon Rose Everett; James Thomas Anderson and his wife Marjorie Parker and their daughter Emily Barnett and her husband Chad and their daughters Abigail and Isabella and their son James Parker Anderson and wife Diane; and Jennifer Louise Corbett and her husband Curtis and their son Jonathan Lee Corbett and wife Clotilde and their daughter Brittany.
Lorrane focused the majority of her early adult years raising her 4 children, including relocating the family to Orlando, Florida in the summer of 1957 where she totally enjoyed watching the sun rise over the east of Lake Conway for 40 years. She then visited Lake Junaluska, NC for ministry education, and immediately fell in love with that part of the country. The following summer she rented a one room cabin in Hiawassee, GA, and loved it so much the following year she purchased her dream cabin in the same area. Lorrane acclaimed she wanted to live the last years of her life in the mountains watching the sun go down in the West. She loved the cabin and the hills; it was her true home. It was there she was able to follow in her father's footsteps loving and planting roses, flowering trees and bushes and a tomato or blueberry plant here and there. She also enjoyed her fellowship with friends at the Hiawassee United Methodist Church and the Senior Center.
Lorrane will be laid to rest in Culpeper, Virginia alongside her mother and other family members. The family would like to thank the many friends and family who have helped and loved Lorrane throughout her life. We will all miss her, but we will always remember her and her loving ways.
Arrangements entrusted to the care of Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee.
