Lorraine McCarthy

Lorraine Edna McCarthy, age 91, of Murphy, North Carolina passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025 at the Erlanger Western Carolina Hospital in Murphy, North Carolina. Mrs. McCarthy was born in Boston, Massachusetts on June 11, 1933 to the late Herbert M. Allen and Helen G. Scott Allen. Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry G. McCarthy; daughters, Helen M. Fortinand and Lorraine E. Arrona; son, Steven McCarthy; sisters Beverly Cartmill , Winifred Allen and Sandra Humes; brother, Malcom Allen.

She is survived by her daughter, Pamela McCarthy; grandchildren; Brandy Minard, Scott Urbanowitz, Sean Urbanowitz, and Norma Fortin; great grandchildren; Myranda Minard and Matthew Minard; great great grandchild, Alina Espinosa.

Mrs. McCarthy moved to the Murphy, North Carolina area from Pearland, Texas. She was a very talented and artistic person when it came to doing crafts. She constructed beautiful dollhouses with great detail and furnishings. She also enjoyed crafting through knitting and crocheting. She had lived in many places throughout the United States during her career in hotel management and enjoyed the many places of interest found in varying states. She was known for her baking skills for people and even made cookies for the dogs in the neighborhood.
