Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces Graveside Services for Mrs. Lorraine Brownfield Hill passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 in a Chattanooga nursing home facility.
Born Frances Lorraine Brownfield on August 7, 1938 in Stevenson, AL, Lorraine and her family briefly lived in Winchester, TN before settling in Shelbyville, TN. Lorraine graduated from Shelbyville Central High School and in 1966 was honored as a member of the Nation's Walking Horse Queen Court. Lorraine went on to attend business school in Nashville, TN and worked as an executive secretary and a professional model. Lorraine appeared in some of the very first color newspaper ads published by Nashville newspapers.
On October 22, 1966, Lorraine married C.W. "Bud" Hill, Jr. in Bedford County, TN and in 1969, moved to Cleveland, TN and began raising their family. In Cleveland, Lorraine and Bud were members of Broad Street United Methodist Church until 2004 when they moved full-time to Blairsville, GA and joined Grace Presbyterian Church PCA. Along the way, Lorraine worked very hard supporting Bud in his business and as his helper on Hill-Vue Farm raising registered Polled Herefords and Black Angus cattle.
Lorraine is preceded in death by her husband, C.W. "Bud" Hill, Jr.; parents, Robert Jackson Brownfield and Frances Cameron Potts; brothers Sam Brownfield and Jack Brownfield; and sister Betty Grace Potts Curlee.
Lorraine is survived by her children Cameron Hill (Sally) of Lookout Mountain, TN; Ashley Hogg (Paul) of Suffolk, VA; Cooper Hill (Kathy) of Cleveland, TN; grandchildren Maggie, Lizzie, and Strobe Hill; Caroline, Campbell, and Frances Hogg; and Walker, Emmaline, and Spencer Hill; sister Susan Stewart (Mike) of Shelbyville; brother Tom Potts of Shelbyville; brother-in-law Robert Hill (Kathy) of Nashville; brother-in-law Larry Curlee of Shelbyville; sister-in-law Barbara Brownfield of Cleveland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the numerous caregivers from Home Instead of Blairsville, GA; The Lantern at Morning Pointe in Collegedale, TN; the Health Center at Standifer Place in Chattanooga, TN; and Hospice of Chattanooga who cared for Lorraine along her journey through Alzheimer's.
A graveside service will be held for Lorraine in the Hill Family section at Antioch Baptist Cemetery, Blairsville, GA at 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 2, 2017 with Dr. Jon Jacobs officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Deacon's Fund at Grace Presbyterian Church, Blairsville, GA.
