Lorraine Baxter

The Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces funeral services for Mrs. Lorraine Elizabeth Baxter, age 73 of Hiawassee who went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 5, 2013.

Lorraine was born in Ocoee, Georgia on April 25, 1939 to the late J.T. Maddox, Sr. and Catherine Stapp Maddox. A member of Mountain Grace Baptist Church, Lorraine had a strong walk with the Lord. She was a devoted wife and mother who was always there to lend support and offer words of encouragement and wisdom. She retired from IBM in 1993 as a computer programmer. Lorraine was known for being skilled with a crochet needle and made many baby blankets for friends and family.

She will be fondly remembered by all who knew her, but especially missed by her family: loving husband of 55 years, Cooper Baxter; daughter & son-in-law, Pamela & Brian Tienter; daughter & son-in-law, Linda & Doug Parsons; son & daughter-in-law, Brian & Kari Baxter; daughter & son-in-law, Sharon & Jonathan Pendergrass; Grandchildren, Chris Tienter, Bria & Rachel Parsons, and Tanner Pendergrass; brothers, J.T. Maddox, Jr. and Harold Maddox and Sister, Joyce Sumner.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, February 10, 2013 from Mountain Grace Baptist Church in Young Harris, Georgia with Rev. Denny Moss officiating. Special music will be provided by the Denny Moss Family & Becky Underwood. Interment will follow at Mountain Grace Baptist Church Cemetery. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pall bearers: Jonathan Pendergrass, Brian Tienter, Chris Tienter, Doug Parsons, Clyde Brown and Brian Baxter. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 5 until 8 pm.
