Mr. Lonnie Prince Sowers, age 90 of Mineral Bluff, passed away May 6, 2012 at his home in Gainesville, GA. Mr. Sowers was born August 10, 1921 in Morganton, GA to the late David and Isabelle Gregg Sowers. Lonnie served in the US Army as a Paratrooper in WWII and continued his career in the US Air Force until completing twenty years of service then later became a welder for Dallas Airmotive repairing Airplanes. He was preceded in death by spouse, Vernice Davis Sowers, brother, Shorty (Hester) Van Buren, brother, Charlie (Bonnie) Sowers, brother, Horace Sowers, brother, Brantley (Vervia) Sowers, sister, Grace (Kent) Wislon, brother, Claude (Gladys) Sowers, half brother, Oscar Sowers, half sister, Cora Sowers Ducker.

Survivors include: step-daughter, Shelby Jean McHan Thomas, sister, Lillie (V.E. ) Ballard, brother, Albert (Marianne) Sowers, sister-in-law, Ruby Sowers.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Reverend Welden Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The gentlemen serving as Pallbearers will be Butch Anderson, Marty Thomas, Sam Queen, Stewart Queen, and Bill Sowers.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm at the funeral home.
