Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces the death of Mr. Lloyd J. Tanner, age 87, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Monday, August 31, 2009, at his home.
Mr. Tanner was a native of Fannin County, Georgia, and was the son of the late John Andrew Tanner and Cannie Cook Tanner. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Tanner had been preceded in death by his wife, Ellene Black Tanner; a daughter, Ludy Mae Tanner; one brother and four sisters.
Surviving family members include four daughters: Violet Taylor of Blue Ridge, Georgia; Tutie Donaldson and her husband, Bill, of Blairsville; Louise Hughes and her husband, Avery, of Blairsville; and Eloise Millsaps and her husband, Gerald, of Blairsville; two sons: J.L. Tanner and his wife, Carolyn, of Blairsville; Glenn Tanner and his wife Patsy, of Braselton, Georgia; eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren also survive, along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services have been scheduled for Wednesday, September 2, 2009, at 2:00 p.m., from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home, with Rev. Stacy Dyer, Rev. Bryan Mason, Rev. Jimmy Rogers, and Rev. Jeff Deavers officiating. A eulogy will be presented by Dr. Don Pruitt. Special music will be by Julie Payne, Kelly Helton, and Martha Davenport. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Keith Donaldson, Douglas Tanner, Richard Tanner, Kevin Hughes, Scott Hughes, Derrick Hughes, and Leonard Walker. Burial will be in Coopers Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Suches. Visitation at the funeral home will begin after 6 p.m. on Tuesday, with the family especially meeting with friends from 6 until 9 p.m. on Tuesday evening.
