Linda Ruth Chastain

Linda Ruth Darnell Chastain, age 75, of Hayesville, North Carolina, formerly of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away on Monday, February 13th, 2023, in Hiawassee, Georgia.  She was the daughter of the late Cecil Darnell and the late Dimple Williams Darnell. She was of the Baptist faith, and a member of Bethel Baptist Church.  Linda had been preceded in death by her husband, Larry Chastain; and her long-time companion, Bud Garrett.

Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law, Mitchell and Sandy Chastain; grandchildren: Brandon Chastain, and Brittney  McKeon and husband, Bailey;  a host of brothers and sisters-in-laws; nieces, nephews, friends and other family members; only surviving aunt, Eva Lee Settle.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, February 18th, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee, with visitation beginning at 12 noon.  Rev. Tommy Thomas will officiate the service.  Music will be provided by Jimmy and Johnny Hogsed.  Gentlemen serving as pallbearers include: Bailey McKeon, Brandon Chastain, Jeff Penland, Bobby Dillinger, Brad Shook, and Lynn Mauldin.  Serving as honorary pallbearers will be David Penland, Dale Penland, and Dwight Penland.  Burial will be in Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery in Jack Rabbit.  

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Fred Hogsed, 2496 Clovis Road, Hiawassee, Georgia 30546.
