Mrs. Lillian Mae Hughes, age 78, of Murphy, NC, passed away Friday, June 20, 2008 at home. Mrs. Hughes was born Wednesday, February 19, 1930 in Murphy, N.C. to the late Floyd Oliver and the late Amanda Chastain. She was a member of New Martin's Creek Baptist Church. Lillian loved flowers, gardening and crafting.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Oliver and Lucille Hughes, seven brothers, Elvin, Edgar, Bryson, Porter, Coy, Allard, and Claude Oliver.

Survivors include: husband, Ralph "Clinton" Hughes of Murphy, N.C. daughter, Jeanette Hughes of Murphy, NC, daughters & husbands, Iris & Tim Buchanan, and daughter & husband, Sharon & David Earwood; two grandsons, Travis Chastain & wife Crystal, and Guy Roberts. and two great grandchildren, Haley Chastain and Hayden Chastain.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, 6/22/08 at 3:00 P.M. from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend, Aud Brown, Reverend Paul Ray Morgan, Reverend Leader Chastain, and Reverend Hoyt Brown officiating. Interment will follow in New Martin's Creek Baptist Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are: Keith and Chad Berry, Travis Chastain, Mike Dalrymple, Adam Flemming and Wendall Chastain.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 pm until time of service, Sunday, June 22
