Lewis Stanley, age 89, of Blue Ridge, Georgia passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Union County Nursing Home. Lewis was born July 21, 1927 in Fannin County, Georgia to the late Willard Stanley and the late Dora Ledford Stanley. Lewis served on the Blue Ridge City Council and was a member of Blue Ridge Masonic Lodge # 67. He retired from the Tennessee Chemical Company after 37 years of service as an acid plant operator. Lewis also was a World War II veteran and a member of Temple Baptist Church in Morganton, Georgia. He was preceded in death by wife, Ovell Geneva Stanley; sisters, Dorothy Cochran, Shirley Stanley and his brother, Taylor Stanley.
Survivors include sons, Terry (Bonnie) Stanley and Tony (Julia) Stanley; grandchildren, Tiffany Ingle, Mathew Stanley, Nathan Stanley, Laura Major, Sarah Stanley; great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held February 18, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Beck officiating. Music will be provided by Beverly Thompson. Interment will follow in Copper Ridge Memorial Gardens. Pall bearers are Nathan Stanley, George (Bo) Major and Brett Ingle. Honorary pallbearers include deacons of Temple Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge, Georgia, Friday, February 17, 2017, from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.
