Leontine "Titine" Roland Kopp

May 7, 1920 — September 4, 2016

Leontine (Titine) Roland Kopp, 96, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 4, 2016. Titine was born May 7, 1920 in Roux, Belgium. She immigrated to the United States as a war bride at the end of World War II, where she married the love of her life, Guerdon Glenn Kopp. Titine became a naturalized citizen of the United States, which she embraced wholeheartedly by learning the customs, the language, and eventually how to cook the food.

Titine valued family and friends, and her life revolved around them. Everyone in Ducktown, TN knew Titine as the pretty, petite, and friendly Belgian lady who spoke French. She was loved by many.

Titine was active in the community as a substitute teacher, coordinator of the meal program at the Ducktown Senior Center, and Meals on Wheels Program, and as a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Blue Ridge, GA.

In addition to her parents, Jules Roland and Juliette Clerebaut Roland, Titine was preceded in death by her husband, Guerdon. She is survived by her son, Guerdon Maurice Kopp and his wife Susan; her granddaughter, Margaret Kopp Barrie and her husband, Jamie; and her much loved great-grandson, James Reed Barrie, all of Chattanooga plus many extended family in the United States and Belgium.

The family wishes to say a special thank you to her caregivers of the past 4 years, Van McGowan and Shea Auche, who cared for her with such love and devotion. We would also like to thank Bradley Healthcare in Cleveland, TN, which took care of her every need with such compassion.

Family visitation will be held at Finch-Cochran Funeral Home in McCaysville, GA at 11AM on Thursday, September 8, 2016. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Titine will be held immediately following at 12PM. Titine will be interred at Zion Hill Baptist Cemetery in Turtletown, TN with the Reverend Victor Morgan officiating. Donations in Titine's memory may be made to St. Luke's Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 1821, Blue Ridge, Georgia, 30513. Arrangements are entrusted to Finch-Cochran Funeral Home, McCaysville, GA.
