Leoma H. Owensby (Hughes)

Mrs. Leoma H. Owensby, age 97 of Murphy, passed away Monday evening, August 12, 2013 at Murphy Medical Center. Mrs. Owensby was born December 18, 1915 in Cherokee County, NC to the late William Raleigh Hughes and the late Cora Jones Hughes. She was a lifelong resident of Western North Carolina and was a member of Swanson Baptist Church. Mrs. Owensby was preceded in death by her husband, David Owensby, and son, Arnold Owensby.

Survivors include: son, Don Owensby of Murphy and sister, Onibee Swanson of Ducktown, TN.

Funeral services: Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel of Murphy. With the Reverend Freddy Maney officiating. Interment was in the Swanson Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers: Jonathan Smith, Johnny Smith, Ronald Baker, Teddy Stiles, Brian Jones and Caroll Weaver. Serving as honorary pallbearer; Wade Henderson.
