Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mr. Lee Dotson, 94, of Blairsville, who passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Eastside Medical Center in Snellville, Georgia.
Mr. Dotson was born on October 14, 1922, in Hull, Georgia, a son of the late Daniel Dotson and Sarah Free Dotson. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Dotson had led a very interesting life - having moved as a young man to California and working many years as a gas well operator. Then after that, Lee owned and operated a grocery store in St. Joaquin Valley in California. He then moved to the Atlanta area, and in his retirement, he took up another business venture - selling merchandise at flea markets, mostly socks. In fact, Lee was known as The Sock King for many years! He was of the Methodist faith, and had been preceded in death by his wife, Callie Dean Dotson; grandson, Danny Hufsteler; and five brothers and one sister.
Family members left behind to treasure Lee's memory are: daughter, Diane Hufsteler, of Fruithurst, Alabama; son and his wife, Charles and Kathe Dotson, of Grayson, Georgia; a brother, Talmadge Dotson, of Monroe, Georgia; Grandchildren: Johnny and Tony Hufsteler; and Lisa Payne. Many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Dotson have been scheduled for Friday, November 18, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., to be held in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, with Rev. Larry Trulove officiating. Burial will be in Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta. The family will meet with friends on Thursday evening, November 17, 2016, between the hours of 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
