Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces memorial services for Dr. Ledford, better known as "Doc", Gregory, age 87, of Blairsville, Georgia, who passed away Monday, November 22, 2010, at his home
"Doc" was a native of Kentucky, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a retired orthopedic surgeon, and Professor Emeritus at the University of Miami School of Medicine. "Doc" was a member of First Baptist Church of Blairsville, and The Gideons International, and was an accomplished violinist. He had been preceded in death by his parents, Charles Austin and Myrtle Sheldon Gregory; two sisters, Peggy Noel Gregory, and Judy Metzler.
Surviving family members include his wife, Maurine Gregory, of Blairsville; Six children, and three grandchildren.
Memorial services have been re-scheduled for Sunday, November 28, 2010, at 3 p.m., in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Blairsville, with Dr. Fred Lodge officiating. Visitation with the family will be held at the church, starting at 2 p.m., on Sunday, and last until time for the service to begin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Women's Enrichment Center in Blairsville, or to The Gideons International.
