Leah Wilhour Schreckengast passed away peacefully the morning of August 29, 2008 in Blairsville, Georgia.
She was born to Andrew and Ruth Wilhour on 27 September 1925 in Sunbury, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Sunbury High School in 1943 and was a member Ti-Hi. She went on to become a dental assistant until she married William Schreckengast.
She was a member of Liberty Hill United Methodist Church and volunteered in the local Head Start program. She gave of her time generously to all. Leah loved the North Georgia Mountains, spending time walking in the woods and feeding the fish in her pond, especially Dinah.
Leah is survived by her children, Michael Charles Schreckengast and Lois Sue Chou; her grandchildren, Susan Schreckengast, Christy Schreckengast, Leann Schreckengast, Danielle Chou, Alexandra Chou and Caroline Chou; siblings, Richard Wilhour, Naomi White, Dorkus Burns, and Jean Schreffler. Her best friend, Martha Brackett, who was like a daughter to Leah, also survives her.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bill Schreckengast; her sons Andrew Schreckengast and Thomas Burton Schreckengast; her sister Lois Dollman.
The graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday August 31, 2008 at Liberty Hill United Methodist Church with the Reverend Geri Worley officiating. The pallbearers were John Brackett, Larry Brackett, Charles Brackett, James Weaver, Steve Ross and Luke Ross.
