Larry "bird" Prather

Larry "Bird" Prather, age 60, of Blairsville, GA, passed away at his home Thursday, April 15, 2010.
Larry was born in Ellijay, GA, a son of the late Homer and June (England) Prather. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran. Larry was a member and past President of the Chatuge Gun Club, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He worked as a Postal Clerk for the U.S. Postal Service since the early 1970's. Larry was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry Prather and Johnny Prather.
Survivors include his soul mate, Karen McKin of Blairsville, GA, and brother, Kevin Prather of Blairsville, GA.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 18, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home. Music will be by the Kelley Trio. Pallbearers will be Rex Patton, Doug England, Ed Terry, Chuck Gillispie, Knox Garrett and Bud Murphy. Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Murphy, Ron Delong, Bob Hughes and Darrell England. Interment will follow in West Union Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors by the North Georgia Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
