Mr. Larry Joe Kaylor, age 70, of McCaysville, GA, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2009 in his home. Larry was born Wednesday, January 18, 1939 in Fannin County, GA.
Larry was inducted into The Georgia Country Music Hall of Fame in 2002. He loved Country Music and was an accomplished musician playing guitar, fiddle, banjo, base guitar, and drums. He was in the "Southern Comfort" band, and played with several well name country stars.
Larry also played live on the Copperhill Radio Station and a station in Murphy, NC. He was one of the foremans on the contsruction of the Omni in Atlanta.
He was preceded in death by parents,Elmer Clay Kaylor and Mary Jane Ryder Kaylor; son, Barry Kaylor, Jr.; and brother, Donnie Kaylor.
Survivors include: son, Brandon Clay Kaylor of McCaysville, GA; daughter & son-in-law, Selina Lenora & Jeff Black of Senoia, GA; sister, Sybil Wilson of Lawrenceville, GA; grandsons, Barry Kent Kaylor, Jr, and Clayton Clyde Black; one granddaughter, Delina Lynn Black, six great grandchildren, three nieces; one nephew; companion, Jennifer "Jenny" Coursin and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at 2:00 pm from the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend John Baker officiating. Interment will follow in Hot House Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Tuesday, March 10, 2009.
