Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces for the McDonald and Son Funeral Home of Cumming, Georgia, funeral services for Larry Harold Bennett, 75, of Cumming, GA who passed away on March 25, 2015 at Piedmont Hospital after an extended illness. He was born in Forsyth County, GA to the late Luther and Edith Bennett. He is also predeceased by his brothers, Everett Bennett and Norris Bennett; and in-laws, Dallas and Alice Hall.
Larry served in the National Guard for 6 years and was with the Forsyth County Fire and Rescue Department for 25 years. He served as a Deacon of the Baptist faith for 39 years and was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.
Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Lavon Bennett of Cumming, GA; children, Serena Bennett of Jackson, GA, Jonathan Bennett of Marietta, GA and Alicia (Ray) Covington of Blairsville, GA; brother, Gene (Betty) Bennett of Cumming, GA; sister, Florene (Byron) Kay of Norcross, GA; sisters-in-law, Teresa Bennett of Suwanee, GA and Deborah Bennett of Cumming, GA; in-laws, Phyllis and Wayne McPherson of Dawson County, GA and Van and Ginny Hall of Suwanee, GA; much-loved grandchildren, Timothy Herron Nathan Bennett, Chris Herron, Josh Herron and Aliceyn and Reagan Covington; and loving extended family.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, March 28, 2015 in the chapel of McDonald and Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 27 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm and on Saturday, March 28 from 2:00 pm until service time.
