Mrs. Lana Diane Thomason passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2014, with her loving husband and son at her side. Diane was born on November 24, 1948 in Gordon County, GA to Eunice and A.D. Carney. She was a member of the Butternut Creek Ladies Golf Association of Blairsville, GA, and the Morning Glory Circle of the First United Methodist Church of Blairsville. She loved her church and her church family and all the prayer warriors who helped her through her journey of the last 3 years. She was a loving mother, wife, and grandmother who loved nothing more than spending time with her family. Some of her favorite activities were traveling, cooking for her family, and gardening. .
She is survived by her husband Mike Thomason, her son Brian Cagle, and her daughter and son-in-law Amy Kuehnel and J.J. Kuehnel. She is also survived by her brother Dennis Carney and sister-in-law Donna Carney; mother-in-law Judy Thomason, brothers-in-law Doug and Steve Thomason; sister-in-laws Debbie Thomason and Jennifer Thomason; grandchildren Roxy Silvasy, Abby Thompson, Will Thompson, Harris Thompson, Kadie Thomason, Emily Thomason, and Zoe Mouton. In addition, she is survived by two very special friends, Karol Whittle and Sandra Worley of Calhoun, GA.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church of Union County with Rev. Mark Burgess officiating. The body will lie in-state at the church Monday from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Union Memory Gardens Cemetery. The following gentlemen have been requested to serve as pallbearers; Mike Plott, Larry Garrett, Jason Neely, Brent Simica, Richard Myers, Jim Whitacre, and Lamar Paris.
The family will receive friends at the Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville Sunday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2565 Thompson Bridge Road, Suite 114, Gainesville, GA 30501.
